Berger Maritiem is a maritime trading and consultancy company that supports commercial shipping with sustainable technologies, compliance-related matters and practical solutions for retrofit and newbuild projects. Together with our partners, Berger Maritiem supports shipowners, shipping companies, shipyards, design offices and other maritime organisations with matters relating to energy efficiency, emission reduction, propulsion and the long-term deployment of vessels and fleets.
Origins and Evolution
The story of Berger Maritiem began on , when Kees Berger, founder of Berger Maritiem, further developed his role as a consultant in the maritime industry, drawing on his background in marine engines, efficient propulsion and vessel performance. From this technical foundation, the focus gradually shifted towards supporting shipping companies and shipowners with vessel sustainability, operational performance and emission reduction for existing vessels and fleets.
With the addition of his son, Jeroen Berger, among others, Berger Maritiem further evolved into an independent family-owned company with a broader strategic and international position. Through continued international partnerships and growing demand for practical sustainability solutions, Berger Maritiem developed into a maritime trading and consultancy company with an international network of specialised manufacturers, technology companies, consultants and service providers.
Today, Berger Maritiem supports a wide range of projects in commercial shipping, from retrofit projects and emission-reduction measures to hydrodynamic optimization, compliance support and operational vessel performance improvement. Because these matters often come together within a single vessel, fleet or investment decision, we look beyond one individual measure. In this way, we help clients select technically feasible and operationally viable solutions for existing vessels and newbuild projects.
